Small recollections from people who went somewhere, then carried a part of it home.

WE CAME FOR THE WEEKEND. WE STAYED UNTIL MONDAY.

We had absolutely no plans. That was the point. The first morning we made coffee, opened the doors and realised we couldn’t hear a single car. By Sunday we were arguing about whether we should actually go home.

I DIDN’T EXPECT TO MISS A HOUSE.

I thought the best part would be the wine farm next door. It wasn’t. It was sitting outside at 7am with a blanket around me, watching the mountains change colour. I still think about that morning.

THE CHEF KNEW BEFORE WE DID.

We told him we wanted something simple. Somehow dinner turned into the best meal we had all year. We stayed at the table for hours, opened another bottle and completely forgot what time it was.

WE LOST THE ROAD. IT WAS PERFECT.

Our guide took us somewhere I would never have found myself. No crowds, no itinerary, just this ridiculous view and the two of us standing there wondering how many other people knew this place existed.

THREE DAYS FELT LIKE THREE WEEKS.

I arrived exhausted and left slightly annoyed that normal life was still waiting for me. That probably says everything.
